Halfway point

Well, I’m midway through my week-long break and things are just marvelous. This morning I spent some time catching up on work emails and made giant blueberry pancakes.

This week has turned out to be quite productive in terms of my life outside work and I think I’ll be prepared to attack 2011 on Monday. In addition to the family holiday festivities I have cleaned and organized the house, paid my license renewal fee, learned how to drive a manual transmission car, found the perfect mittens, and watched a lot of the British Top Gear. I feel really appreciative that my job allows me to take paid vacation days to relax and recollect myself. Oh, and that going there the rest of the year is actually pretty enjoyable too.

I have also impressed myself this week with the level of self control I have exhibited when spending my gift cards. I’m actually holding on to most of them until the snazzy spring stuff comes in and I have the burning desire for something new. Right now I’m pretty satisfied with the things I already own, and it’s nice to have some free shopping to look forward to in the next couple months.

NYE is quickly approaching and for once I’m thinking that something low key is the way to go. I have a feeling 2011 is going to be a good one, there’s lots of good stuff I’m looking forward to. I hope you all have a marvelous rest of the year!
